Modular Workstation Power Systems: Interfaces, Documents and Project Coordination

A modular workstation power system uses compatible components to connect the furniture installation with the project’s electrical supply. Its value depends on how the selected components fit the layout, the installation sequence and the requirements of the building.

For contractors and designers, the starting point is a clear interface: what the furniture supplier provides, what the electrical team provides, and who reviews the complete configuration. A product name alone does not define that scope.

Define the system boundary

Identify the proposed supply connection, distribution components, desk outlets and cable-management arrangement on the coordinated drawings. Record which items belong to each party’s scope, including installation, inspection and handover documents.

Some arrangements allow parts of the upstream work to be prepared before furniture placement. Confirm this against the selected system and site method rather than assuming every modular installation follows the same sequence.

Request documents for the selected model

When considering U-Power, request documents for the exact models and configuration proposed. Match the identifiers in the quotation, drawings and supplied components. Similar-looking modules should not be assumed interchangeable.

  • Model references and a component schedule.
  • Manufacturer installation and operating documentation.
  • Relevant component ratings and compatibility information.
  • Applicable conformity documents and their product scope.
  • Agreed warranty and service terms.

A logo in a catalogue does not establish that every component in a proposed installation is covered by the same document. Ask the responsible technical reviewer to check the identifiers and scope against the project requirements.

Review capacity as a configuration

Do not select a system using a universal number of desks per floor box. The connected equipment, component ratings and approved circuit design must be reviewed together. A catalogue layout illustrates a configuration; it is not a capacity calculation for another project.

For the information to collect before this review, see workstation power capacity planning.

Coordinate readiness and handover

Agree when each work area can receive furniture, when the electrical team needs access, and which checks are required before the completed workstations are released for use. An earlier check of upstream infrastructure does not replace verification of the final installed arrangement.

For sequencing context, see the install-late workstation strategy. Confirm its applicability to the actual site before adopting a programme.

Plan for future changes

Keep the component schedule and model documents with the handover records. Before relocation or replacement, have the proposed configuration reviewed under the applicable procedures. Modular connections do not by themselves establish that a change can proceed without isolation or further verification.

For projects in Indonesia, our Bahasa Indonesia guide to stop kontak meja kantor explains how U-Power connects each workstation to the building through one floor point for every six desks.

Discuss Aetrio’s furniture systems with your layout and project requirements so the proposed product scope can be reviewed alongside the electrical and installation interfaces.
