High-rise office furniture selection connects design choices with access, building requirements and the work of other project teams. A desk may suit the visual concept but still need further review before its dimensions, delivery method and service interfaces are approved.
For designers and interior contractors, the objective is to make these interfaces visible early. A furniture supplier can provide product information, but product choice alone does not establish building compliance or guarantee the project schedule.
Start with the building information
Collect the relevant requirements from building management and the responsible project team. These may include delivery arrangements, permitted working hours, protection requirements and the approval process for drawings or work methods.
Where structural loading, fire performance, anchoring or access requirements are relevant, obtain project-specific criteria and the appropriate review. Choosing a lighter-looking frame does not prove that a floor loading requirement has been met. Do not substitute marketing descriptions for the documents required by the project.
Put actual dimensions on coordinated drawings
Use the dimensions of the proposed furniture rather than a generic desk symbol. Show the arrangement in relation to doors, columns, storage openings and user access. Include the space needed for chairs and drawers during use.
Record the drawing revision used for pricing. If dimensions or quantities change, identify which documents require updating. The person ordering furniture should be able to determine whether the quotation reflects the same plan that the designer approved.
Define furniture and service interfaces
Identify where the furniture meets power, data and other services. Record the proposed access locations and the product information needed by the relevant specialists. Confirm which party supplies, installs and checks each part of the work.

Review delivery constraints before freezing the specification
Ask how the product will be packaged and transported to the destination floor. Record dimensions of the relevant access route and identify components that need particular handling. Plan installation in relation to room readiness
Agree what must be ready before furniture arrives, including the condition of finishes and coordination with other trades. Record who confirms readiness and how changes are communicated. Avoid making a fixed installation promise while access or the work area remains uncertain.

Prepare a specification handover record
- Approved model, finish and dimensions.

Keeping these references together reduces ambiguity when procurement or the site team takes over. A drawing marked approved should not be silently replaced by an unrecorded change during ordering.
